Genecyst was the first really good emulator of Sega Genesis/MegaDrive. Most of it's code is written in assembly with a little bit of C by the legendary author of Nesticle - Sardu. Genecyst is the fastest MegaDrive emu - it runs perfectly on 486DX4-100! It has good compability, sound support, savestates, sound and movie capture and many other cool features. This emu was best until Gens' arrival. Now this project is discontinued.

This is a Sega Genesis/MegaDrive/Sega 32X/Sega CD/Mega CD/Master System/Game Gear/SG-1000/SC-3000 emulator from the author of Kgen!!! Steve Snake made a lot of work on this emu. Kega was written from scratch with some parts of code borrowed from KGen. As a result we have fast, stable and compatible emulator. Unfortunately, all source codes of this emu were lost because of harddrive failure. However Steve Snake found enough motivation to rewrite Kega again from scratch! And now Kega is the one of the best emulators of Sega consoles!

KGen was the second emulator after Genecyst that was capable to run commercial roms fast and with good compability. It's slightly slower than Genecyst (at least Pentium class processor required) but this emu became good rival for Genecyst. If some game does't run on Genecyst, try KGen!
