| WCW Backstage Assault is a wrestling game that takes place entirely outside the ring. Inspired by the "hardcore" matches seen in WCW in the later days of the promotion, this game features various backstage areas, including a bathroom, the production studio, and the loading bay. During each match, items can be picked up or ripped off the walls to swing or throw at your opponent as weapons. Match types include standard exhibition, first blood (make your opponent bleed), human inferno (set your opponent on fire), and gauntlet (which requires you to run through several opponents without any time to recover between matches). The roster includes some of the biggest names in wrestling: Jeff Jarrett, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Sting, Diamond Dallas Page, Goldberg, Billy Kidman, Rey Mysterio, Booker T, and many others. The game's Create-a-Superstar mode is much deeper than that of its predecessor, WCW Mayhem. |

| WCW Mayhem features a huge roster of WCW talent from the late 90s, including Goldberg, Hollywood Hogan, Sting, Ric Flair, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, and more. It was the first game to feature the ability to fight in backstage areas such as the parking lot, the restroom, and the arena lobby. It was also the first game to feature all three of WCW's shows (Monday Nitro, Thunder, and Saturday Night) and all twelve of their pay-per-view events (Souled Out, SuperBrawl, Uncensored, Spring Stampede, Slamboree, Bash at the Beach, The Great American Bash, Road Wild, Fall Brawl, Halloween Havoc, World War 3, and Starrcade) as playable arenas. In Quest for the Best mode, you select a wrestler and move up the ranks in several title divisions, starting with the Television Championship and moving on to either the Cruiserweight or US Title before facing the World Heavyweight Champion. Mayhem features a basic create-a-wrestler mode, another first for a WCW game. |

| Choose from a number of WCW superstars like Goldberg, Diamond Dallas Page, Chris Jericho, or Rey Mysterio, Jr., or select a member of nWo Hollywood or the nWo Wolfpac. There are even two fictitious wrestling federations (EWF and DAW) with "fake" wrestlers who are actually based on real life wrestlers from Japan and Mexico. Compete in a singles, tag team, handicap, or battle royal match (similar in format to WWE's Royal Rumble). In Championship Mode, you can vie for WCW's United States, Television, Cruiserweight, or World Heavyweight Championship, or choose a partner and go for the Tag Team Title. You can even customize the name and attire of each wrestler. |
